Today Venus Williams dispatched Anastaysia Myskina 7-5 4-6 6-4 in the round of 16 of the International Women's Open in Eastbourne. It was a well played match from beginning to end by the powerful American, and the shot making Russian.

"This win is great for me today. Considering this is not one of my best surfaces. I'm getting more wins on grass than I did at the beginning of the season. I'm happy to still be seeded and hope I can be going into Wimbledon, that will give me a boost to make a run at the US Open this year.

Myskina was a fiece opponent today and the match could have gone either way. It seemed to be win I raised my level, she immediatley raised hers. When I got tight, she got tight. So it was an intense battle till the end. I'm just excited to be in another quarter-final."
