Anne Keothavong won her first clay match of the year just half and hour ago downing Ana Ivanovic in 3 sets. She recoverd well from a first set bagel and played confiedently and strongly in the second and third set, closing out the match to love. After a bit of a Slump from Anne, it seems she has her confiedence back and she is ready to fight.

"I am feeling very strong at the moment and hope for good results here at Charleston. My season has not be good so far with many first and second round losses but I beleive this could start a tournaround" said Keothavong, who is ranked number 18 in the world "I am training more often now and am also playing doubles (with Castano) so I feel more confident than ever and hope to achieve some good results"

Her second round match is against the number 6 seed Flavia Penneta whilst Anne and Catalina will start their doubles campaign against Ashley Harkleroad and Anne's first round victim, Ana Ivanovic

Anne Keothavong continued her new run of form by upsetting Italys Flavia Pennetta in two sets, 7-6 6-3. The Italian is a clay specialist but struggled against a powerful Keothavong who seems to see the start of the clay season as a new start to her season. Annes new found power and aggresion is certainly paying of as she is in to her very first Quarter Final, were she fill meet her doubles partner form Colombia,Catalina Castano.

"That was the best match I played all year"said Keothavong whos victory took 1hr 31mins. "I played strongly and aggresivly and made Flavia move around the court a lot which helped as she wasnt managing to use her spin as much against my defesive game. I am really happy that I had a good performance and that I am in my first Quarter-Final. I feel like my season is turning around and I am very happpy with the way im playing"

When asked about playing Castano in the next round, Anne said "It is nice to be playing my doubles partner in the next round. She is another clay specialist and so I will have to play a lot like I did today against Pennetta, very powerfully and defensivly. We both know each others strengths and weaknesses and I think it will be a very intresting match for both specatators and us"

"To beat three clay specalists in a row and reach the Semi Finals would be amazing. I have enjoyed playing on Clay so far this season and I hope I can achieve more wins and good results on the future here on this surface"

Today Catalina Pulled of a tough 3 set match, Against her doubles partner to book her spot in the Semi Finals. Catalina Castano def. Anne Keothavong 7/6(1) 6/7(0) 7/6(3). This match, was full of winners, no-one really wanted to stay on the defence. But Catalina Game is more suited to the clay, Althought, Anne was just playing some Oustounding tennis to keep up with Catalina

"What can i say, i can barely speak. Im still very exaughsted after that match, I have to get a massage, and maybe go out an have a great night out with Anne I mean we are rivals on the court. but were the closest friends off the court. And you cane have 2 people that play doubles with eachother to hate eachother, its just not right"

When it reached the second set tiebreak, i think the croud and I were all certain that Catalina was going to win. But Anne being the fighter she is DIdnt want to give a point up. And she won the second set. the third set was simmilar, No breaks But Catalina Was to strong in the second set. And Ended Up Winning.


Catalina And Anne won thier 1st round match, in the doubles tournament This week. Both Being Debutants Defeating (WC) Harkleroad/Ivanovic 6/4 6/1. "we are happy, want can i say. i Defeating her in singles (Anne). And we came back after that 3 hour match, And now We had enough steam, to take this match. I think we were just the better Clay court players out there"
