Sharapova's_Boy Apr 18th, 2007, 05:34 PM And where is Elena Dementieva?
I'm sorry. I didn't have Dementieva down for Tokyo on my lists. Now I see though that you did in fact commit.
Again, I'm terribly sorry, and this probably could have been avoided if the Tokyo entry list was published, but with the easter fiasco I just didn't have time to do it. :(
It's too late now to change the draw. So please feel free to commit to another event to make up your 26 tournament quota.
Sharapova's_Boy Apr 18th, 2007, 05:35 PM Point deadline has been extended for another 12-18 hours, seeing as players will need some time to adjust their points according to the new Points To Send list just published.
Ballbasher Apr 18th, 2007, 05:44 PM When will we get Doubles Draw?

Peer Prepares for Pan-Pacific Title Run
After a dissapointing finish in Melbourne, Shahar Peer of Israel is ready and rearing to go here in Tokyo for the Pan Pacific Open, as she searches for her first title.
"You know, a lot of people have won titles this year, and I feel like it's gotta be my turn sooner or later," said a jovial Peer in her post-warmup conference.
Peer comes into this tournament as the third seed, behind American Serena Williams, who recently won the year's first Grand Slam title, and Italy's Francesca Schiavone. Peer knows, however, that this early in the year, seeds, and rankings mean nothing.
"I mean, apart from Serena, who's practically unbeatable, we're all on the same plane," said a sobered Peer, who despite her third seeding in Melbourne was upset by 9th ranked Alicia Molik of Australia in the quarterfinals. "I need to be ready to go from the first match, and if I make it to the finals against Serena, then...we'll, I'm going to give it my best."
Play will begin later this week, and not only does Peer have her eyes on the singles title, but the doubles one as well. She and Justine Henin of Belgium formed a bond in Melbourne, and plan on playing doubles at several events this year.
"Justine told me that she made a committment with another player at the beginning of the year, to play all of their combined events together, but since we had so much fun in Australia, we decided to play all of the other tournaments together." The doubles draw has yet to be made, but you can bet that no matter their opponents, Peer and Henin will give it their all.
"Honestly at this juncture of the season," Peer said at the close of her 15 minute interview, "it's all about finding out where your game is, and making progressive strides towards the end of the season...that's all it's about, and as long as I can move forward, that's all I care about....well along with winning this title too."

Vaidisova and Peer Enjoy Scenery and Victory
Once, the fiercest foes on the ITF junior circut, Israeli Shahar Peer and Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic are enjoying similar success at the Toray Pan Pacific as well as their friendship.
"It was really cool that we were able to hang out here," said Shahar Peer after her 7-5 7-5 opening round match against Jelena Jankovic of Serbia. "We played a lot against each other in juniors, and it's really cool for both of us to make it to the pros, and to win."
Peer and Vaidisova have the chance to renew their rivalry if they were to meet in the semifinals. Peer will take on Russian Olga Poutchkova in the quarterfinals, while Vaidisova will be facing an uphill battle as she takes on Italy's Francesca Schiavone who enjoyed a straight sets win to set up the meeting with Vaidisova. Peer was excited about the possibility of meeting her friend in the semifinals, while careful not to look to far ahead.
"Of course it'd be nice to see a familiar face across the net, but Olga (Poutchkova) is a great player, and it's going to be a tough match. I mean it's the same for Nicole, we both have tough matches coming up, but I know that if we both do our best, it'll be hard to bet against us."
