today was a little strange because there were a lo tof people here today . They were having akids clinic and there was a bunch of kids all over the place but this is very good. They had pizza for the kids and they offered me some so I ate Pizza as I watched Maria fernanda Alves play her match. The girl next to me was her sister so we talked alittle about football and how brazil made the final she said she was very happy. Maria Fernanda is a very good player much better than what I've seen Varvara Lepchenko and Marisue Jacutin was also good and they impressed me a lot more than some others I've seen. The girl Maria fernanda was playing retired after nanda took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd set.After the match I interviewed her with her sister doing the translating for us.
Me: How are you feeling?
Nanda: Happy because I can play well I had a small problem two days ago I hurt a muscle in my neck and I'm happy because I'm playing with a little pain but the people here a re so nice in helping you and in doing things for you.
me: how do you feel about Brazil making the finals of the world cup?
nanda: happy
me; Who are your favorote players?
nanda: tennis or soccer?
me: both
nanda: soccer the whole brazil team and Rivaldo and Ronaldo
in tennis probably guga.
me: How do you feel about guga not playing Wimbledon?
Nanda: I think he is not playing wimbledon because he is still operated and he is still recovering. it's good he played Roland Garros but he's operated and it's not good for him to play too much tournaments in a row.this month I think he'll only play on clay.It also easier for him to play on clay because it doesn't hurt to play as much as on other surfaces.
me: What do you hope to accomplish by playing tennis?
nanda: I hope to play pro and play the Grand Slams.
me: Is there anyone at this level of tournaments that you say wow she is really good.
nanda: Every player here plays good. Same level. Two girls Melissa Torres I played in the juniors also Neyssa Etienne and they both are continuing to play.So I have more experience playing them and you know Neyssa played Melissa and beat her.
me:do you think the playing here is more level?
Nanda: everyone is more along the same level like the top 10 and top 100 are the same level but player from 200- 500 are the same level.
me: How is the tennis scene in Brasil?
Nanda: Right now I would say tennis is as popular as soccer in Brazil.
me: Have you ever played Nancy Loeffler-Caro?
Nanda; Never played her. I think it is better for her to play the senior tour it think this level is too competitve too tough a level.
I don't think to travel and all day to be at the club is fun . tennis is our lifeand at the senior events they have social events.but she's a good player maybe she likes it like this.
me: Does everyone here relate to each other?
Nanda: we all live the same kind of life but everyone lives and you really have no friends because everyone has the same goals and you have to beat these girls to reach those goals.
