Olympic Silver medalist Gabriela Sabatini, advanced to the quartefinals of the Vancouver Open, with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Martina Muller, and a come from behind 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Alicia Molik. Tatiana Golovin of France, is up next for Sabatini. Sabatini leads the H2H 2-0, but Golovin is looking solid this week and surely wants revenge for last weeks loss to Sabatini at the Olympics.

Francesca Schiavone eased her way into the quarterfinal of Oldlum Brown Vancouver's Open with a powerful 6-2;6-3 victory over seventh seeded American Lindsay Davenport. Schiavone blasted 6 aces and dropped just nine points on serve in 53 minute victory. Next up for the Italian newcomer is WFTC No.1 ranked Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Nicole Vaidisova Enters FWTC

San Diego,USA. Nicole Vaidisova will be the fresh lass added to the FWTC tour next week. She publicized it today to the Tennis News. She said she has been practicing solidly the past few weeks in order to be in shape for the Tier 1 tournament. She also added that she is looking forward to challenging the top players as she said starting in the middle of the season is one unique way for her to discover about other players and at the same time she needed some time to ameliorate her game. She also stated that her preferred surface is indoors as it ensembles her game wholly. She is also seeking for a doubles partner to help her improve her net participation. She also would like to express gratitude to the tour manager to acknowledge her enrollment to the tour. She will work industriously in order to achieve her goal which is to be the best player she can ever be. Nevertheless, as a novice she wants to concentrate exclusively on her game plan. Success will come with a good mental, physical and spiritual strength. She also admires Svetlana Kuznetsova and hopes that she can be like her some day.

Italian newcomer Francesca Schiavone continues to shock the tennis world by beating another WFTC star. Today her victim was the best of the best - tour champion, ranked No. 1 Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova. Fran's powerful groundstrokes, well placed services and tremendous defensive game were too much for Russian star and finally after almost three hours battle Schiavone won 7-6(5);5-7;6-3. Her semifinal opponent will be American Bethanie Mattek, who beat Maria Kirilenko from Russia in two sets - 7-5;6-0.

"I have no words to describe my hapiness! It was an up and down match so I feel lucky to advance to my first ever final. After second set my mental condition was really bad - she was just unstoppable! I was ready to be bagelled in the third but I said to myself come on! you have nothing to lose! she can't play that good forever! FORZA! and it worked - I won 6-2;2-6;6-2!
I'm so nervous before tomorrow's final. Gabriela is an experienced player and I'm sure she can adjust her game to my tactic on court but like I've said before- I have nothing to lose and I will try to lift my first WFTC title tomorrow"

Gabriela Sabatini, all fired up after reaching matchpoint against Kim Clijsters.

In a rematch of the Olympic final where Kim Clijsters crushed Gabriela Sabatini 6-1, 6-2, Sabatini gained a little revenge with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 win.

"I guess my good play came a week late, cause I won't get a Gold medal for beating her here, lol."

After a terrible first set, an energetic Sabatini began to use her topspin to move Clijsters around, forcing her to hit the ball above her shoulders. Clisters hung in their, but her effort had her spent by the middle of the third set. Sabatini will face Francesca Schiavone in the final.

" Frankie and I know each other others game very well, she's a very tough player as her results have shown you this week. I expect another three set match tomorrow, I think its a 50/50 call on paper."

Vancouver, Canada-Italian Francesca Schiavone won today her first WFTC title at Vancouver Open, beating Argentinian beauty Gabriela Sabatini 6-1;2-6;6-3. It was only third tournament for 26 years Schiavone, who also reached Wimbledon quarterfinal on WFTC debut playing with a wildcard. Francesca will enter WFTC Top 20 next week when a new ranking will be announced.
"I still can't believe I won a tournament! I was waiting for this moment for so long - since I started playing tennis at age seven. I was dreming about holding winners trophy and now my dream comes true."
