Dubois finally holds under pressure!

For the first time in such a while, Stephanie Dubois was able to play under pressure until the end of a match and surprised everybody including herself! Stephanie Dubois was a little overated from what we could hear fromhte other girls on the tour. Dubois had the reputation to fail in big moments and to give up when matches were too tough. When Stephanie arrived in Stanford she said to us "I have a new attitude this week, I want to have fun and the thing I want to do differently is just to forget about the result, i just need to have fun on the field and the results should come with it." Stephanie was right! Yesterday she fought really hard against Monica Seles, 2nd seed and the result was pretty interesting. Monica Sels was the totally favorite for this match but Stephanie Dubois arrived with a strong mental and a new strategy and surprised Seles in the first set. Seles wasn't used to play such a motivated girl, Dubois was fighting on every singl points, even if she was losing an important point, she was able to put it behind her and give her 100% on the next point. Dubois and Seles played a first tight set, there was 0 break of serve in the first set! The tie break made the difference, Dubois was much more precise than Seles who made some bad mistakes and Stephanie also took some good risks at the good moments and gave no chance to Seles and won the TB 7-2. The second set was just unbelievable! Monica Seles was just outclassed by Dubois, forehands, backhands, volleys, drop shots, serves and all most every shots of Dubois were perfect, Seles couldn'T play Dubois weaknesses as she seemed to have none in this second set! Dubois just closed the second set 6/1, to sign her best win sine a very long time ago. Stephanie Dubois and her double partner Maria Kirilenko, 1st seed in doubles in Stanford, rolled in second round after a pretty tough match against Serena Williams and Severine Bremond, final score was 7/6(2) 6/3.

'It is fantastic to win my first title since my injury - especially since its only my second tournament back. Just goes to show how much the tour has missed me. This has got to be one of my best wins because when you are injury you really question whether you can come back to the tour and perform like you did before and I think I proved today I can. I was really nervous today and it felt like my first ever final and I gave Ash to many silly errors but after the first set I opened the shoulders and produced fantastic tennis and I dont think many players could match it! I cant wait for the US Open because I need a slam title!!'
