btw, Shona Lee never got her 1.5 points from Vancouver and I e-mailed the ranking supervisor and she told me that Shona never got the points because of a violation. The same thing happened with Sandhya Nagaraj. Anyone know why???

Shayna had a slight ankle injury. Isabella is very impressive though. Not only could she give the ball a whack, she's quite consistent. Shayna on the other hand was very inconsistent. Some of her shots looked great when they went in. Isabella's very tall for a 14 y.o, I didn't realise she was that young, dfinitely huge potential.

Daniella should win this thing again, I feel.

Only one that could stop her is probably Lisa D.
Wouldn't be surprised if she loses 2r. She didn't look that inpressive against Acquistapace today. Provided Lisa DÁmelio's back injury behaves, she should be able to knock Daniella off easily enough. Adriana Szili & Isabella Holland are others who'd cause Dani some worries.

OK, Shona has a nice enough game. I started watching the match early in the 2nd set. I had no idea Shona had won the 1st set 6-2. Michelle Bryicki actually looked to be the better player here. Basically all the rallies were Brycki's to win or lose. She hit harder, better angles, volleys. I the end Shona scrambled a lot back until Michelle would make the error. All the games were close & a 3rd set looked like a possibilty for much of the 2nd set.

Went again today.
Adriana Szili d. Lisa D'Amelio - 6-4,6-0.
Adriana's playing much better than I've ever seen her play! Great angles, lots of groundstroke winners, aces (including a couple on 2nd serves). Lisa played consistently, but nowhere near as aggressively as normal.

Tyra Calderwood d. Holly Cao - 4-2 ret.
Note to Hollies dad: this is what happens when you tire the poor girl out for 2 hours prior to a match!!
Holly has the one of the most over rated Aussie girls ever. I don't expect to ever see her ranked inside the top 450.

Shannon Golds d. Shona Lee - 7-6(0),6-3. :worship: :worship:
Shannon hit too many winners & had too much power for Shona. Shona scrambled all over the court well, but wasn't good enough. Both girls hit several double faults. The tiebreaker was truly unreal from Shannon, most rallies ending with a huge forehand winer. I was so hppy to see her reach her 1st ever Semi Final & in her home town too.

Karolina Wlodarczak d. Alenka Hubacek - 6-2,6-3.
Not knowing the score for most of the match (was concentrating on the Golds & Szili matches). I would've though Hubacek was winning. She has a much bigger game & with a bit more experience should have no problems with these matches. Karolina has a nice game, top spin forehand. She's basically a retriever. Think Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario & you've pretty much got Karolina's game sussed. She throws up huge, defensive lob after lob. Eventually Alenka would miss.

Lucy/Shannon d. Karolina/Shona - 6-4,7-6(2) :bounce: :bounce: :worship:
So happy for Lucy & Shannon, they were stoked after the match too. Made all the driving from Brisbane through the week worth it just for this result alone. It was Shannon's 1st ever final & Lucy's 1st tournament win in Australia. K/S led 4-2 in the 1st set & 5-1 in the 2nd. Shona didn't hold serve once in the 2nd set. Shannon was hitting huge groundie winners, literally hitting through her opponents. Lucy served several aces. Going into the tiebreaker, Shona wouldn't have been too confident after the drubbing Shannon gave her in their singles tiebreaker.

Predictions for Tomorrow:
Adriana Szili vs Tyra Calderwood.
Adriana would be very confident & happy with her play this week, she also has the experience. Tyra's a really good player with truly huge groundstrokes.
I thin Adriana should win this match based on her experience & superior ball retrieving abilities. I have a feeling this will go similarly to the Hubacek/Wlodarczak match. I really hope Adriana wins, she's a really sweet girl who'll always come up for a chat. Will be interesting to see her results in the upcoming $25k's & if this encourages her back into full-time tennis.

Shannon Golds vs Karolina Wlodarczak.
Again, I'm extremely biased with this one. Shannon rocks (as does her mum).
I've spent alot of time with Shannon & Lucy this week, so it would be great to see Shannon win both titles.
Shannon has the power to outplay Karolina, but then again so did Alenka today. Provided she doesn't get too impatient & pissed off with Karolina's retrieving, she should be able to win this one. Could go either way though, will probably be a 3 setter. Go Shannon!!

Literally any one of the 4 semi finalists could win this. The only result I'd fully expect is if Szili plays Wlodarczak in the final. Szili would win hands down.
Also, I haven't really payed a great deal of interest in Tyra's matches.

Adriana didn't play as well in this match as previously, however Tyra hit the ball a lot harder than previous opponents. Tyra hit a lot of flashy winners, but was too inconsistent. Adriana just kept the ball in deep & consistently.

Golds d. Wlodarczak - 6-4 ret
Shannon started off confidently with a break in the 1st game. Just outhit Karolina who doesn't come across as being that tenacious. Just retired, didn't see a trainer beforehand. Walked off court crying. Had blisters on the top of her foot.

Final Prediction:
Shannon should hit too hard & consistently for Adriana. Shannon in 3 sets, will be a good one...

From what I saw, as I expected Shannon hit the ball too hard & had Adriana scrambling all over the shop.
Suckful Tennis Australia didn't give the singles champion or doubles champion anything at all, no trophy, no even a bottle of wine. Just the cheque.
Great result from Shannon to win both the singles & also the doubles with the fantastic Lucy Gonzalez (who mentioned me in the doubles presentation acceptance speech, very cute!).

I'm just spewing that I thought the 1st day of maindraw matches started at 9am, I thought 10am. So by the time I got there Lucy had already lost her singles match. At least I was there for all her dub's & all Shannon's singles & dub's matches.

Does anyone know what Shannon's plans are? Is she going to give the full time circuit a shot and travel overseas? I can see her carving out a career similar to someone like Deanna Roberts, i.e. a big game and floating around the 400 mark with a couple $10K wins, but if she's serious about her tennis then I'm sure she can go higher.
