Maria Sharapova cruised into semi-final after her match against the French teenager, Tatiana Golovin. The young Russian begins her match really aggressively and she hits the ball really early and this kind of game really gives the advantage to Maria as she took an early and quick lead. Tatiana wasn’t playing really well and didn’t get a lot of balls in the court. Maria won the first set 6-0 in only 27minutes. The rhythm continues in the second set as Sharapova took a 3-0 lead. Maria was really amazing and she won 9 consecutives games. But, at the beginning of the second set, Tatiana got more balls in the court but Maria was able to finish all the points. The French teenager really started to be consistent and was putting every balls in the court and was waiting for Maria’s errors. It worked as she tied the second set at 3-3. More confident, Golovin began to be the aggressor in this set. She totally outplayed Maria with her angle, her deep balls and her power. So, Tati won the second set 6-3. The 6th seeded player wasn’t able to be aggressive like she was at the end of the second set, when she try to hit deep balls, they went all outs. Sharapova begins to regain confidence and her shots as Tatiana was hitting more errors. The Russian really stepped up her game and was really consistent and waiting for Tatiana’s error. The Russian was able to bagel Tatiana for the second time in the match. Finally, (4) Maria Sharapova def (6) Tatiana Golovin 60 36 60.

Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated Agnieszka Radwanska in two tight sets 64 75 to reach her fourth finals after Canberra, Warsaw and Birmingham. She will face the winner between Maria Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic.

"I'm very happy, I didn't think I would be able to reach the final here after my early loss last week. But at the same time, I feel sorry for Aga. I know she's a clay player, but she played very well today. That's too bad we had to meet in the semifinals and not in the final," she said after her match. "The experience I've got really helped me tonight. It's starting to show a little bit on the court."

Top seed Svetlana Kuznetsova and Amelie Mauresmo win their ticket for the semifinals in doubles at Eastbourne after defeating Anna Kournikova and Alina Jidkova 64 26 76(4).

They will face 4th seed Lindsay Davenport and Gisela Dulko, winners of Tatiana Panova and Ashley Harkleroad 16 60 61 in the quarterfinals. It will be their second meeting, after Birmingham (Kuznetsova/Mauresmo won in 3 sets 75 36 64). Gisela and Lindsay won their first title last week at the Ordina Open, while Svetlana and Amelie have got 3 titles, Sydney, Berlin and Roland Garros.

The young and sexy Russian player, Maria Sharapova, stills aiming for her first title. Effectively, Maria reached both Grand Slam final, but lost both of them to Martina Hingis. So, she is making her third appearance this week in the final two. Maria overcame a big victory, as she repeated what she did at the French Open. Yeah, she was able to defeat Ivanovic for the second time. It was a hard battle for the two players. Maria took a quick lead with a huge advance of 5-0. But then, in this sixth game, a bad call was heard. This really disturb Maria and she lost the games. But, Ana comeback in power to make it tied at 5-5. She had a match point at 65 but Maria fought hard to bring it to a tie-break, which she won 7-4. The second set was similar, Maria taking the early lead and Ana who fought her way back to win this second set 6-4. Third set was tied, at 3-2 service for Ana, Maria was able to break and take the lead once again, but then, she prevails to win this match 7-6(4) 6-4 and 6-3. She will next face Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final, which is ranked #3 in the world. So, if Maria wants to improve her ranking this week, she will have to beat Sveta, well, I think. But, we shall see this tomorrow! ;)

3rd seed Svetlana Kuznetsova lost in final at Eatsbourne to 4th seed Maria Sharapova in a marathon match, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(5).

"Of course I'm disappointed. It's never easy when you lose in final, you know, it's frustrating, especially when it's so close. You can't help thinking "If I did this, or that, things would have been different". Yes, it's hopeless, but sometimes you can't hold what's in your head. That's how it works in the few minutes after the loss. But then, you have to see the positive part of your results, and to be honest, I'm very proud of what I achieved this week. Remember, I lost in my opening match against a newcomer last week! So I came from far away! But today, Maria deserves all the credit, she played very well! I think she's one of the best player on grass. She can mix her game. Maybe sometimes she has bad volleys, but she has such a huge serve! She can play well everywhere anyway. For sure, she'll be the favorite for Wimbledon next week."

Mauresmo and Kuznetsova win doubles title

The doubles title at Eastbourne was won by world number one team Amelie Mauresmo and Svetlana Kuznetsova who were 6-4, 7-6(3) victors over 2nd seed Kim Clijsters and Marta Domachowska. It is the 1st title on grass for the French-Russian team, and also their 4th title overall, after Sydney, Berlin and Roland Garros.

Now the 1st and 2nd teams, who have always met in finals, are tied 2-2 in their head-to-head:
