i only watched the last couple of games, but it seemed like a very good match, there were very long points and very few mistakes, as far as i know Kerber has Polish origins, however, i can't understand why the hell she was the only one to be cheered for by the spectators, it was like no ovation at all after her winning shots

So I saw a couple of matches today :p When I got to the venue Tatjana already won 1st set and Katya had BPs to lead *6-5 - I believe - in the 2nd set but lost all of them and was quite loud too :lol: But nobody beats Zahlavova - she played in the background against Siegemund - she's in the league of Szarapowa in terms of grunting :o :rolls: Anyway Tadde held and so did Katya so there was a TB. Tadde got an early mini-break (*2-1 I think) but Katya won one of the points on German's serve and won her 1st service pt but missed some easy shot on the next pt and screamed in her native Belarussian 'What the heck did you do? You have to be patient' - if I understood well :lol: It sounded pretty funny... after that the match was virtually over ;) There was a DF on the MP :o

2nd match I watched was the match between Jana and Angelique... From what I've heard Jana lost very little games in the tournament so far and Angelique (for weird reason called Ania by the crowd :confused: ) had 3 sets victories in the previous rounds. Jana won the toss and chose to serve... First pt of the match was quite a good rally that ended with an awesome crosscourt backhand winner from Jana and next pt was very well-constructed too (also ended up on a nice-looking winner) so I was like 'Jana shouldn't have any problems winning this :shrug: :lol: But Angelique won next 4 pts in a row and gained an early break. Jana from then on was missing by miles... It was clearly not her day. Angelique was pretty solid, but nothing impressive really... some nice angles, good BH... but IMHO Jana looks a bit more promising, but simply played awful today... She finally held for 1-4 in the 1st set but Angelique has had never problems with holding her own serve... In fact she never faced any BP I believe. So it was an easy routine victory for Kerber 62 61. If she plays in the SF like she did today she'll reach the final.

When I came, Karber was serving at 3:4. I don't know what the match was like before, but the next 8 games were quite one-sided. Yesterday, Kerber was very consistent and was finishing the points in 2 or 3 shots. Zahlavova was able to return most of her powerful shots and Kerber could not find any solution and started making lots of mistakes. Btw, the Czech is sooo tiny. She looks like one of the ballgirls. And yes, today there were ballboys and ballgirls on the court. Soon, it was 6:3 5:1 and 40:15 for Zahlavova on Kerber's serve. It seemed Kerber wanted to go and take a shower but Zahlavova waisted both MPs. In the next game, she made a few errors and was broken to love! As usual, she was veeeery noisy. With her moaning and comments she made the audience laugh many times :)
Then, she had next 2 MPs at 3:5 but again, Kerber held. At 5:4 Zahlavova waisted her 5th MP but the next one was enough. Generally, nice comeback from Kerber in the 2nd set. And as for Zahlavova, she's surprisingly consistent. When I saw her power tennis for the 1st time I was expecting way more errors from her. I'm almost sure she'll reach top 100 soon.

Asia :sad:
I was expecting her to win this semifinal. She seemed very nervous for me. In her previous matches the 1st sets were fantastic. A lot of winners, virtually no mistakes and good serve. Today, nothing was there. No serve, countless mistakes from the beginning of the match. And from the very first game, she was moaning and making countless comments after her mistakes. She held for 1:1 and broke easily in the 3rd game. But she lost her serve in the next game. In the 5th one, she had 3 BPs but waisted (meaning waisted) all of them. She managed to win the 6th game, this was the only moment when she screamed "trzymaj!" (something like Come On! or rather Keep it Going!) The 2nd part of the set was terrible with Sakowicz getting more and more nervous and making a lot of errors. Malek was playing loads of moonballs, it seems this was her strategy for this match. And Sakowicz had problems with those shots. She lost the next 2 games and the set. This was when she took an injury time-out. She was pointing to her back or shoulder. People watching the match were surprised because during the 1st set there was nothing to suggest that she was injured.
The 2nd set was a short story, she lost her serve quite easily. She was fighting in the next one, but lost it as well. At 0:2 00:30 she started crying. No wonder, she did not win a point from this moment. At 0:3 she gave up.. :sad: Still, people at the crowd believed she "used" this injury only as an excuse in a match she felt she could not win anyway.
