Harkeroad loses the battle

It is a sad day for tennis!

The day after the great finals and Kim Clijsters claiming her first, and indeed deserved title, a tragedy has hit the tennisworld.

The final between Kim Clijsters and Ashley Harkleroad was amazing, it had everything it needed. Lots of winners from both players and the players even managed to put up laughs once in a while.

In the first set Clijsters took the tiebreak, and showed great strenght. In the second set, Harkleroad stormed to a 5-3 lead, but then she fell apart and kept grapping the right side of the head. She only managed to win one more game, and then lost the tiebreak.

In the lockerroom Harkleroad kept feeling her head and suddenly she fell hard on the floor. An ambulance came and took the cute blonde to the nearest hospital.

Her coach, Nath Lee has told reporters that Harkleroad had had a tough time being young and all the pressure from being a famous face, and after the slap from Martina Hingis the other day, had she taken a lot of painkillers.

"She could feel something was wrong in her head. The hit hadn't been that hard, but Hingis must have hit a nerve. Ashley will now retire from the tennis, it is unsure if she will ever come back":sad:

Despite losing her protege, Nath Lee has decided to continue training young players. She has taken over young Tatiana Golovin who split with her coach.

"I'm still very sad after what happened to Ashley, but I think the best way to get over it, is by continue my life"
