Russian top seed Anastasia Myskina (above) advanced to the Quarter-Finals,
following a straight sets win over Michaella Krajicek.

"This is a very good win for me. It's nice not to have a long, drawn out match for a change. Michaella is a great player. I wasn't so sure if I would be able to do it today, but I played very well, and I'm feeling much more confident leading up to the crucial stages of the tournament, especially after a this win."

Princess Shyperova beaten in Melbourne

http://www.mariaworld.net/usopen05247.jpg

Lindsay Davenport def. (6) Princess Shyperova 4-6 7-5 7-5.

Melbourne, Australia.

The overhyped player in LTT, Princess Shyperova of Russia, was ousted in the third round of Australian Open, by the old hag, Lindsay Davencow in three sets 6-4 5-7 5-7. But the 18-year-old Shyperova, frustrated to the point of tears, had depleted her energy as she tried to survive in the match. Leading 5-2 in the third set, Shyperova looked helpless to close the match while Davencow kept charging all over the court and seizing control of the match.

Q. Can you talk more about the match. Leading 5-2 in the third set and then you just collapsed.
Princess Shyperova : I just ran out of gas in the third set. At 4-2, I felt like my body was already not fighting with me. I tried to play it through and got a game but after that, I just couldn't run anymore. It's very disappointing.

Q. You fought so hard to lead in the third set.
Princess Shyperova : Yeah, well, at that point it's pretty tough because physically I was just very drained. But, you know, I gave it all I had. I fought really well in the second and just kind of went downhill from there.

Q. You've lost a lot of 7-5 matches this season.
Princess Shyperova : I'm learning to play a longer match. This is not something that's going to happen overnight. It is going to take time. My body is still growing and still adjusting, you know, to my own body.

Q. Winning this tournament would really solidify your hype in the tour.
Princess Shyperova : Look, maybe I came off a little too bitchy, but deep down, I know what I am capable of. I don't talk the shit without backing up with a solid performance. But this is tennis, you know. You don't win everyday.

Q. Who do you think will win this first Grand Slam of the season?
Princess Shyperova : Unfortunately, the tournament's over for me, so I don't like to think of that.

Q. You sounded really disappointed.
Princess Shyperova : I mean, of course it's always disappointing. I'm not going to lie to you. I'm not here telling you that I feel great losing. I am very disappointed because I set my own goal and I can't reach that goal.

But we'll see how it goes from here. I mean, if I keep on losing and you know, pretty much hangs around top 10, then by any means, it just doesn't serve any purpose. My aim is to be the best in the tour, and if I can't, I might as well quit. So I'm going to see how I fair for the new few tournaments.

Q. Don't you think you are being harsh to yourself?
Princess Shyperova : I don't think so. Seriously. It's just something that I expect from myself to do really well on the tour. So far, it has been more disappointment than satisfaction. I mean, sure, some players would be content to be #6 in the world, but I'm not that type of players. I know what I am capable of and if I can't achieve that, it's just no point continuing.

Q. How many more tournaments are you going to play to gauge your retirement?
Princess Shyperova : Well, I'm going to discuss this with my coach. Personally I think before the next Grand Slam would be ideal. But I'm not going to quit overnight obviously. I have a lot of respect to the tour direcetors and my great partner and also some players here. So it's not something I'm looking forward *smiles*.

Q. Where's the bitchy Sharapova?
Princess Shyperva : She's still sleeping at home.

Two Women

Melbourne, Australia – What day is it now? No matter. The only thing that is on everyone’s lips are the women of the Ladies Tennis Tour who are currently duking out for the first clutch of Grand Slam trophies and purses at the Australian Open.

But who cares about the rest of them? This article was created for choice no.1, special no.1, our girl Martina Hingis.

Having been silent for the past few days since another dismal campaign at Sydney last week, the former tour leader finally decided to grace us with her thoughts after an exciting battle with her good friend Monica Seles of the USA under the Melbourne moon.

The crowd hollered as soon as the two seeds stepped on the court. This appreciation was rewarded with a hotly contested match between the two divas of the LTT.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/26_G.jpg
Confident Little

Set one began ominously though as the crowd gasped, first, over how Martina Hingis easily raced to a 4-0 lead. They would gasp a second time but for Monica Seles who immediately fought back to win six consecutive games, treating the Swiss Miss’ serves with pure abandon by hitting return winner after return winner. The first set only took half an hour but being there was the only way to truly appreciate the quality that ebbed and flowed between the two opponents.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/94_G.jpg
Comedy

Set two began with a trade of breaks but one of them would up the ante as Miss Hingis went for broke on her shots, defending but hitting the lines on her returns. This would prove a successful adjustment as Seles would hit booming groundstroke after booming groundstroke yet failed in retrieving after her opponent’s shot placement.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/93_G.jpg
Rapture Capture

In the deciding set, Miss Hingis would then exploit the weakness of having a two-fisted game plan by stretching Seles from one side to the other, eventually tiring the big-hitting left-hander to take the match 4-6 6-3 6-2 after 1 hour and 49 minutes.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/129_G.jpg
Class/Those Evil Eyes

Miss Hingis’ day would actually start, peak and end with success as she began in Rod Laver Arena by securing a quarterfinal berth with countryman Roger Federer with a win over Croatians Karolina Sprem and Mario Ancic.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/ML.jpg
Private Session

After some practice and hitting session with doubles partner Lindsay Davenport, the no.3 seeds took to Miss Hingis’ beloved Vodafone Arena, the site where she won all her matches during her triumphant Australian Open in the LTT’s first season. They would win that match as well, showing that despite slight hiccups in singles, they were the most consistent doubles team so far.

After the singles win, Miss Hingis retired to her hotel room after Lindsay Davenport bullied the press people and hurled several (including one tour director) over to Maria Sharapova’s press conference instead so that her doubles partner could have some peace.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/PleaseGet.jpg
No Talking.

With so many issues to address such as Maria Sharapova's threat, what Anna Kournikova has, what Jelena Jankovic said, what Ashley Harkleroad tried to have, Roger Federer's nose and whatnot, we know you would now like to read Miss Hingis’ comments but we lied as even we could not get an interview with her but seeing that you read this article anyway and would only confirm this by replying with a saucy roll of the eyes or oversimplifying or what we would much rather call "valleygirl"-ing the word "okay" to just "K", we would like to remind you that we already have your four minutes of reading time including the $1.99 for a copy of our newspaper and we shall only laugh at your comments while turning your well spent dollars into money rolls.

To paraphrase the mighty Monty Pythons:
“Now sod off or we shall have to taunt you a second time.”

Davenport Surges past Sharapova

http://eur.news1.yimg.com/eur.yimg.com/ng/sp/empics/2237743
Davenport in delight after her 2 hour and 18 minute win

Lindsay Davenport outlassed 6th seeded Russain Maria Sharapova to move into the quater-finals of the first Grand Slam of the year. The match lived up to expectations as Sharapova grabbed the first set 6-4 in 48 minutes. But in the second, Davencow...i mean Davenport was able to knock the crown of Princess Shyperova by taking an all important break at 5-5 and serving the set out 7-5. It was the same story in the final set, as both fought over the quater-final spot which only one could win, and looked to be the Princess as she raced out to a 4-2 lead.

http://eur.news1.yimg.com/eur.yimg.com/ng/sp/empics/2237748
Power Placement, Power Placement. Davenport stuck to her game plan and it payed off.

But coming back out from the change of ends, Davenport could smell Hot Dogs and Buffalo Wings (probably just because some vender guy was selling them to the crowd just behind her seat), but she could also smell Sharapova's tiredness. DAvenport just moved hte ball and watched the winners race by Sharapova. Even though she was able to win one more game, it was Davenport with the upper hand when she leveled at 5-5 and held to love in the following game. Davenport defeated the young Russain 4-6 7-5 7-5 under the lights on the VodaFone Arena.

Davenport answers questions.

Questions for Davenport.

Q. So you said you were feeling good going into the match, was it true all the way through?
Davenport: Yes it was, because even though i dropped the opening set i still felt like i was playing great, she was just un playeable in the opening set, but then i calmed down and found a groove and managaed to outlast her.

Q. I take it you have heard the rumours of her retirement now?
Davenport: Yeh it really shocked me. She is a great player and to retire over one loss is a bit sad, but i think she said she was going to give it another go. Its only one loss and i know she can play great, its just i think i wanted it a bit more than her today. I think she is a great player and the tour would suffer without her.

Q. Thats such a nice thing to say Lindsay.
Davenport. I know right!

Q. You also won in doubles today, which win was more satisfying?
Davenport. I think they both were. In the doubles it was tough, but i had Hingis there to help if i got tired, as we both wanted to save some energy for singles, and it was fun playing with her. Her mother kept shouting things out during the match which really irrated me but in the end it all helped. And then the singles was even tougher, so i dont know which was more satisfying. I mean i had to play 6 sets today, they were all pretty tough.

Q. Where is Hingis these days?
Davenport. I told you, she is on her detoxx thing from any press or news. Her mom doesnt want her doing any of it. I think she just wants to be left alone, she is really tired after her great win over Monica.

Q. Is it sad to see Monica go out so early?
Davenport. Yeh i guess, she is a good friend and i was rooting for her but i was also rooting for Hingis, so whoever lost it would have been hard, you know it was-

~At that point Hingis walks through the door. All the media rush over to her, but davenport literally throws three of them into the next room where Sharapova is doing her press conference. The rest of the press all quickly return to their seats in silence and dont make any eye contact with Davenport.~

Davenport. Next quesiton please!

Q. At one point in the match, i think it was something like when you were 5-2 down gettin up from the change of ends, you had two hotdogs in your hands and when the ball boys tried to swap you them for the balls so you could serve, you kicked them in the shin, what was that?
Davenport. What.!? ~Davenport blushes~ Erm...you must be mistaken, cos-erm, that just erm, no that wasnt me. Next question..

Q. But im sure i sa-
Davenport. NO!. It was not me! Next question!.

Q. Up next is Clijsters. What do you feel about that going into the match with a losing head to head record?
Davenport. Well thge last time we played it was close, but she has been doing some grea things recently and playing really well, so i guess i just have to go and practice and be ready, that is the most imporatant thing, and to just play my game.

Q. Well good luck for your next match Davenport.
Davenport. Thanks everyone.

Clijsters seals Davenport quarterfinal match

http://cache.wtnphotos.com/3103/21238810872clijsters.jpg

Melbourne, Australia - Third Ranked Kim Clijsters advanced to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open on Sunday, easily despatching Australian newcomer Alicia Molik 6-2 6-2.

Clijsters made 22 unforced errors, including 15 in the second set, but said she played well on the big points against the Australian; Alicia Molik.

"It was a good fight, long rallies, I played well on the important points and served well when I had to," she said. "I'm feeling good - I have won all my matches in two sets."

"I have a lot of motivation, and it's great to be in the quarterfinal."

Molik, the only Australian to advance so far at a Grand Slam, got bad line calls on game points in her first two service games and lost both of them as Clijsters took a 3-0 lead.

Clijsters dropped serve in the fourth game and then Molik held before the third-seeded Belgian won three consecutive games to close the first set in 32 minutes.

Clijsters had reached the finals last week in Sydney and look to be in fine form, yet again.

"Alicia is a great player and I had to play great tennis if I wanted to get through," said Clijsters. "I had a great start, but it was more difficult in the second set."

Later on in the Night Session. Clijsters & Haynes defeated Dubois/Farina-Elia fairly comfortably in straight sets 6-2 6-4.

An interview with Sonya Jeyaseelan (CAN)

Q:Sonya , you did quite a good job in your very first LTT event , reaching the main draw by winning matches in qualifying event.Since then, you haven't won a match , can you explain what happenned?

A: Well, I don't really know what happens, I'm a newcomer on the tour , and some players have tons of experience, it's really hard to make one's place soon, I still have to work a lot and to improve in every aspect of my game , because I m actually a bit worried about my latest matches. My coach Jool isn't travelling with me for the moment , but I guess next week he will begin to come with me.I hope he can help me to find some motivation cause it's difficult to be losing all the time.

Q: You partner Chinese Li Na in doubles and still haven't had good results ...

A: Is that really a question ? Mmm...Na is a good friend, she's indeed a better player than me for the moment (she always win during training sessions...) but I guess we still have to work together and try to improve our net play. I hope Na and I will soon have the results we expected before the season began.

Q: Three matches, three straight sets losses at the Australian Open ...

A: yes, I know, I suck . As I said, it's hard to travel alone (I travel with Na but I don't have my coach with me). So, it's hard to face all these fighters alone.I'm already a bit tired, it's a bad debut on tour, but hopefully I'll have some conversation with my coach and I can have better results next week.

Q: That's all we can wish you, Sonya. Thanks for answering.

Ana survives scare; ousted in mixed doubles

http://www.ana-ivanovic.net/cpg133/albums/AO/normal_AO12.jpg

Ana Ivanovic's quest for a triple crown is dashed when she was beaten by Alicia Molik/Todd Woodbridge, 1-6 6-4 7-5. However, Ana is still in the singles and doubles draw. She survived Italian veteran, Silvia Farina Elia 6-7(1) 6-2 6-3 and paired up with Anastassia Rodionova to beat the American pairing of Monica Seles/Alexandra Stevenson 6-3 6-3.

"I'm a little bit tired after playing 3 matches in a day. Losing mixed doubles is no big deal. It was just to gain experience. Moreover, Alicia and Todd are playing on their homeground and are the best doubles players around. Losing to them is no shame."

Ana advances to her first Grand Slam quarter-finals, where she will face unseeded Anna Smashnova.

"She fought very hard against Nathalie Dechy. Hopefully I'll be the fresher of us two and scrape through with a win again."

Princess Skankpova :

"I didn't say I am retiring. I said, I will retire if I don't win a tournament by RG. See. Not asking too much, isn't it. So people please retire your match against the Princess and let the Princess has the damn title and the Princess will not throw any tantrums again. But thanks for the concern, Miss Pornikova, Davencow, Hingis and Whoreleroad."

Harkley keeps on rockin'

She's still not playing the singles, but she sure knows how to make up for it.
Harkleroad is in the quarterfinals with her partner Chela.

Interview with Ashley Harkleroad!

You and Chela look happy together out there, how's the partnership?
Fine fine! I mean, I keep chasing the ball, and I keep distracting the opponents, but I also do that with that Char-something Rubin, so I'm just used to it... It's okay, it's just because I am so freakin' good, yeah.

It looked like an easy match. 6-2 6-1, how did you feel today?
Fine! I mean, neither of us played our best, I guess we played OK, but that was enough, maybe because our opponents really don't know how to hit a ball, yeah, I guess, but you know... I've already forgotten their names, so they can't be wellknown on the tour, so...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/39763000/jpg/_39763915_harkleroad_300.jpg
Harkley doing all the work!

What do you think your odds for this tournament in the doubles are? Do you think you have a chance of winning it?
Well, yeah, of course. Else I wouldn't be here. I mean, I, euhm, we really got to step up a notch, not really cause the other players are any better, they're not trust me, but some judges are just SO dumb, so you oughta play really good!

http://www.icicom.up.pt/blog/quarto-arbitro/arquivos/img-chela-LongIsland.jpg
Chela reacting after Harkleroad secured the win

Davenport has made some bitchy comments towards you? And Hingins a little too. How do you feel about that?
Euhm, Davenport... Isn't she the one who was caught giving head to an empire or something? That's the only time I've ever heard her name, and I don't even know what she has been saying about me?
And Hurlgis, euhm, right, she's full of crap, and I don't know her comment either, but I know she tries to touch and hit on all the girls here, especially the ballgirls, so don't listen to that ugly biatch.

Rumour has it, your coach is leaving you, is that true?
Yeah, sure it is, but not like everybody think. She's going to Paris with some friends to powershop, that's it. She'll be back to watch my finals and coach me in the weekend and all. It's nice to have some time off from her. I hate it when I practise, and everybody just keep on staring at her, instead of me. Urgh!

Well, thanks a lot for your time Ashley, we'll cheer from you!
Welcome, my pleasure

Ivanovic into semi-finals!

http://www.ana-ivanovic.net/cpg133/albums/userpics/10001/normal_zurich04.jpg

Ana Ivanovic played her first straight set match in singles today, winning her quarter-final match with Anna Smashnova 6-0 7-5. With this win, Ana has reached her third consecutive semi-finals in 3 weeks. She'll meet the Anna Kournikova, who beat her last week.

"I'm overjoyed with my results. Like I said, I didn't expect to reach this far. I thought my rankings were a bit inflated. But I think I handled the pressure well and won all the matches I'm supposed to win! Now Anna will be a big test as she just beat me last week. I really hope to do well and hopefully pull an upset here."

Ana/Anastassia Rodionova lost in the doubles quarter-finals, losing to Russian pair, Kournikova/Sharapova.

"Well, it was a bit draining as our doubles match was right after our singles. Only Maria didn't play that day. Anastassia was hoping to get revenge on Anna but I think I played a couple of loose points to lose the match. I'm really sorry Rodionova!"

Clijsters fights back to defeat Davenport

http://cache.wtnphotos.com/3241/8573949clijsters.jpg

World Number Three, Kim Clijsters drew on new-found resolve as she fought back to beat American veteran Lindsay Davenport 3-6 6-4 6-3 on Monday to reach the Australian Open semi-finals for the first time.

Davenport, dominated the first set against a tentative and error-prone Clijsters but the match soon became a mental and physical battle to see who could endure scorching heat which hit 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit) on Rod Laver Arena.

"Mentally I just tried to tough it out. I thought this was one of the toughest matches of my life." said Clijsters.

Clijsters now plays Martina Hingis, the Motorola Cup Champion & former World #1. This will be their first meeting. The Swiss Miss defeated top seeded Russian Anastasia Myskina 6-2 6-4 in their quarter-final on Monday to adavance into the Semifinals against Clijsters.

"You know, Im just very excited on reaching my first Grand Slam Semifinal. I've been very consistent and really playing to my potential. It feels great."

"Playing Martina will probably be my toughest test in this tournament, she is a great player with alot of experience and she knows the taste of victory. Its going to be a heck of a battle."

Clijsters/Haynes lost once again in the Quarterfinals, in straight sets to top seeded pair of Henin/V.Williams.

"They are a superb team, Angela & I tried to keep fighting, but Justine and Venus are just too good."

Davenport Falls in Melbourne: Talks to other players

http://www.centralchronicle.com/20050530/30a5.jpg
Hmm... i better tell her to shower before her press conference

"Erm well, i guess Kim played better today. She really came back after the first set. I thought i was going to win the way i was playing in the first set because there was no stopping me, but she just got every ball back in the second and third set and i had no energy left.

It was so hot out there and all credit to her for being able to play that well with that heat. It really got to me but she some how managed to play well. Im looking forward to the clay, finally i feel like i am playing well and like there are only a few people that can beat me, and im going to decrease that number event by event.

http://www.manmademultimedia.com/magazine/news/sport/tennis/2005/Pacific_Life_Open_3-22-05/clijsterswinner.jpg
Well Played Kim

I just want to wish good luck to Kim in the semi-finals. And also to Hingis. She is playing great this week, its a shame that we could not face off in the semi's but Kim is playing great, maybe next time.

I just cant believe what Myskina said. I know it hurts to lose, believe me, i felt like i was going to win today but sometimes you just have to say 'too good' and come back the next day and give everything. I think Myskina and Sharapova are both fantastic players and to talk about withdrawels and retirements over a loss is a bit extreme, and i really hope, like many players, that they stay active on the tour because its a lot of with them.

I guess this is my last conference from Melbounre, until next season. But im looking for some trophies next week and a lot of revenge, so watch out Kimmie!"

Myskina fails to impress; fails to live up to expectations once again.

http://img.stern.de/_content/53/56/535628/myskina_250.jpg
Current world number one Anastasia Myskina will now see her ranking tumble,
following a straight set loss in the Australian Open Quarterfinals.

Coming off a solid win over Michaella Krajicek, Russia's Anastasia Myskina suffered a career blow yesteday, ending her Australian Open 2005 campaign. The world number one fell to Swiss star, Martina Hingis- a former number one herself, in two easy sets.

Myskina was a mess the entire match. Countless errors including 10 double faults and 22 unforced errors.

http://www.abc.net.au/tennis/galleries/day8/images/07.jpg
Myskina admits, she's "shattered" from the beating she received.

However, credit must be given where it's due. Seeded eighth at the tournament this week, Hingis was in full control the entire match, and played comfortably and strategically- targeting Myskina's erratic forehand, and leaving the Russian to
leave the court in floods of tears.

Following the match, Myskina declined to attend a press conference, claiming
"I have nothing to say other than I am completely and utterly shattered by this loss. I don't wish to talk about it"
As a result, the world number one (or should we say former) will now have to pay the $300, 000 fine for her "un-example setting" behaviour.

Ana Ivanovic reaches Grand Slam final!

http://www.ana-ivanovic.net/cpg133/albums/Zurich05/normal_zurich04.jpg

Ana Ivanovic continues her great run in Australian Open by reaching the finals. She defeated 2nd seed, Anna Kournikova 4-6 6-2 6-3 to reach her first career final.

"I'm elated! In the first set, Anna was playing so well. She led 5-0. I was trying to crawl my way back into the match. But still, she won it 6-4. In the second set, it was all even until 2 all when a line call went against Anna. She then crumbled. I was playing better tennis then and closed the 2nd set 6-2. In the third set, I was down a break 1-3 when an overrule was made by the umpire again. Anna was furious and argued relentlessly. She was distracted and I reeled off the next 5 games to clinch the match. Anna played a wonderful match and would have beaten me if not for those line calls."

Next up for Ana Ivanovic is Martina Hingis who upset 3rd seed Kim Clijsters in the other semi-final.

"It's going to be a tough match. Martina is a veteran of the tour and knows her tennis. I hope to do well here and win my first title and Grand Slam."

Anastasia Myskina hides a smile after admitting it felt good to defeat Russian compatriots Anna Kournikova and Maria Sharapova in the doubles semifinals.

"I'm just so thankful to Daniela for giving me this opportunity to be in a Grand Slam final. It feels good to finally beat Maria (Sharapova) and Anna (Kournikova). I really am excited for today's match. I'm happy to be in the final, so I think we'll both just try to enjoy the match and not be too disappointed with the result".

Melanie Molitor

To start off, I feel that I must immediately get this out of the way. Now excuse a doting mother for gloating, but did you see my daughter out there today, no this week? She killed the competition six ways sideways from next Saturday and legitimately solidified that she earned and indeed deserved the Australian Open title by defeating four top ten players en route including Anastasia Myskina (no.1), Kim Clijsters (no.3) and Ana Ivanovic (no.4). It would have been even better if it was Kournikova (no.2) in the final so Martina could have proven that the past two weeks were only minor setbacks but it’s not our fault she failed to live up to her seeding and fell to gutsy young Ms. Ivanovic. Don’t think Martina could not have done it either. She has beaten Kournikova before.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/29_G.jpg
Hi-loooowwww GAWgeous!

The first big hurdle was of course her first match and Martina cleared it well over Catalina Castano in straight sets. We knew Monica Seles would be a challenge thus the three-setter but again, Martina proved she could persevere. Kim Clijsters was another worthy adversary and Martina remembered their match from the Motorola Cup and handled the situation. Ivanovic and Myskina were the question marks for Martina but she played her game, cutting out drama for good results. Did you see that comeback from 1-5 down in the second set of the final? That’s focus.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/010133.jpg
Owwwwwwwwww have mercy!

Martina continued to do so even in her acceptance speech, opting to say a simple “Thank you,” to the masses.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/itsgood.jpg
It's GOOD!

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/itsgood2.jpg
It's GOOD!

I know Lindsay must be disappointed that they lost in the doubles final but she should look at the bright side: they have been in four consecutive semi-finals and two consecutive finals. They also defeated Justine Henin-Hardenne and Venus Williams at last and that is a respectable achievement.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/27_G.jpg
Lindsay: Marty look! Wrinkly, wrinkly eyes.

Mixed doubles was not such a success but it is good that a homegrown team took the titles to satisfy the crowds.

Oh MRS. HINGIS, MRS. HINGIS!

Since this is the debut of the column, we shall forego the other sections such as: Player Grade, How the Seeds Fared, The One to Look Out For, etc. That will all be included in succeeding reports.

Now onto the e-mail bag:

Congratulations on your daughter’s amazing week! We knew she’d hold on. Great champions don’t stay down! 10 and 0 at MelbournePark!!!!!!!
- Patty O’ Swiss

Well thank you very much. I shall pass it on to my daughter and thank you for noticing that partcicular statistic.

Your daughter is a big LOZER! Shell just looze next week in the first round and the only way she won matches this week is because the sunlight bounced off her huge forehead and blinded the other sexyfuller girls!
- A. H-road-kill

Martina would just say “God, I love being underestimated,” to people like this. Next.

Some related e-mails, one vague, the other, particular:
Hi. Congrats to Martina. Being an insider, is it true that one particular male player has been making frequent visits to the girls’ locker room?
- L-boy Hewitt

And

Hello! We must know, is there something going on between a certain bouncing Belgian and an “in search for his mojo” American?
- E. Calls-(M)en

No comment but a picture is worth a thousand words (or dollars):

Young Love: Are they not sweet?
or
Da(n)dykims: Whose child is THAT?!

OMG! Let Martina speak and give interviews or we shall make you feel pain! (and could you please include this link to our website: talkmartytalk.ADHD.eu SHANKS!)
- Prez Sexington, President of the “Let Martina Free” campaign

Um:
1. Good God.
2. No.

What some may still fail to understand or notice is that Martina’s “Run Silent, Run Deep” campaign has worked tremendously as she has not allowed off-court activities to distract her, her doubles partners and I being the only ones privy to her thoughts (but even Roger is not that privy to). Will this change? Who knows with her? Martina is talkative one week but can shut down like this week. That can be intimidating even to me as she can turn on or turn off certain aspects of her personality and stick to that decision for as long as she wants. Will she talk again, that is up to her but as long as she can function, I think it’s enough for her.

I travel with a complicated younger lady.

And lastly:
Mr. Federerererererererererer just won the men’s AO! Ms. Hipswings also won the AO! But they sucked when they played together so why? Or was something else being sucked in this partnership (like their skills!)?
- Lundgren Safinator

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/hopman01c.jpg
Rogi, what's petting?

Easy. They are both singles players who are competent in doubles. Martina is more attuned to it while Roger, not as much. The more important accomplishment is that they both won individually and no nothing more is going on between them as I have done a superb job in rigid chaperoning.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/20040201tennissvizzeraFederer1_340.jpg
Fellow Swiss, Fellow Champion:
Ah yes, we needed a new candy dish for Halloween.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b340/Maatreiya/chaperone.jpg
"Keep those legs together Roger! No suggestive eating Martina!
Finish that hotdog already!"

That’s all for this week. See you all in Monte Carlo and if you have any other mailbag contributions do not be afraid to PM them right away.

We have suggested to Miss Molitor to take a more objective tone when analyzing her daughter's game in succeeding articles.

Ana Ivanovic loses to Martina Hingis in finals

http://www.ana-ivanovic.net/cpg133/albums/Zurich05/normal_zurich17.jpg

Ana Ivanovic's fairy-tale run to Australian Open finals came to an end as she fell in straight sets to Martina Hingis 6-4 7-5. The match was up and down and Ana was displeased with a number of close line calls.

"I had a chance but I didn't take it. Leading 5-1 in the 2nd set, I should have closed it out. But the pressure got to me and I lost. Well done to Martina who hanged on and won the first Grand Slam of the year."

http://www.ana-ivanovic.net/cpg133/albums/Zurich05/normal_zurich22.jpg

At 4-4 in the first set, Martina's shot hit the net cord and landed cruelly onto Ana's court, resulting in the only break of the set.

"It's just luck. Martina is a brilliant player. Losing to her is no shame. I hope to continue my good results when I go into the clay season!"
