Hey guys,
I have a question that I am not sure of the answer to so can somebody plese help me out?

With the 10k, 25k, 50k, and 75k events held, how is the prizemoney split? In other words, how much does a 1st round loser get, 2nd round loser and so on. Do first round qualifing losers get anything?

Thanks heaps,
Jono

$10.000 TOURNAMENTS

*No money at all for players playing in qualifying.

*Winning the single title get you $1500, taking the doubles get you $300 (by couple) and always LESS local taxes (often up to 30%)

Thanks mate, tax is a bitch! If you were a player ranked around 250 in the world, you could make a living by going around playing a 10k almost every week of the playing year, winning about 70-80% of the tourneys. Intresting.

That's it. I find completely ridiculous that winning a $25K will get you less than twice what you would earn winning a $10K while there's a huge gap of level between them...

Nice to know these. I have wondered for some time about that.

What does that Hospitality means is it something like bed and breakfast?

it means that the tournament gives some extra money as price money (probably from a local sponsor)
75k+H means about 80k - 90k price money normally

Not exactly. They provide accommodation, which raises in a way the prize money , but not in a way that the players get more money.

I always reckoned that a player in the Top 300 would make enough cash to keep playing tennis professionally. Below 300, and you've got to be making upwards progress, otherwise it's not profitable. Of course, some of those players have got money to burn, or simply play a limited schedule whilst having other jobs.

I think one should be atleast in top 150 to be profitable. After all from winnings You have to deduct taxes, accommodation, travelling. Maybe even in top 150 it is still not enough.

If You are in top 300. Lets say no 250 You must have 115 points. Considering that there is 17 tournaments that counts it makes the average of 6,5 points per tournament. If You attend 25 and 50K tournaments Your average winnings is 700 USDnow deduct taxes, accommodations and travellings. Here is't counted fees for coach, fees for equipment, for tenniscourt rents etc. but in top 120 one should also have some sponsors. When You are nr 120 with 300 points it makes average 17 points with 2000 USD winnings per tournament. GS- will bring in more, but then again travelling to Australia or USA, or Europe also costs more. So atleast 120 not less. Then You have few bucks for "salary" also.

in 2004 117 players earned 100+ grand (US$) and 177 earned 50+ grand.
if i remember correctlty - pro status is earings of 25+ grand in one season, so you had 262 of those.

due to the constant rise in prize money i expect this year to have larger numbers - but a yearly sallary of 6 figures is a big sum, and a lot of people are having great careers even without ever making top100
