after the YEC I'm gonna start dumping some of my captures on my harddrive caddies to make space for next year,these are all xvids about 700mb to 1gb,this is one of the caddies I will screenshot the other soon,if theres any must have match you see in the screenshot I might upload,BTW I too lazy to write the full players name so you may have to guess a bit:D

I carefully examined your screenshot, and if you are willing to upload it, I am missing the 2006 Moscow final from my collection of matches. As for the other matches, I have all that are of interest. I like having the important finals, and for some reason, I was never able to find this one anywhere. Absolutely no rush, and if you never get a chance, don't sweat it. I'm sure everyone here appreciates all that you do...I know how much time it must take out of your schedule.

By the way, your blog is quite nice, and a great tribute to Maria Sharapova. The Tokyo 2005 final was great to finally see.

I hope someone can help me. I have downloaded all the FALL MATCHES from various posters. They play fine on my divx on my notebook. When i burned all the matches to a dvd-r to play on my divx dvd player all the MPEG matches played fine BUT the AVI files played no sound ONLY video....I have spent all weekend trying to figure out what to do to get sound. Does anyone have any advice? I would be much appreciated. Again all the AVI files burnt to a DVD-R play video fine but NO sound..all mpeg files play fine. Thanks!!

who's matches have you downloaded? if any of mine I know why and its because of the codec I use to compress the audio from the PCM of the original capture.

this is codec(below) I'm using,I was using the lame mp3 codec but was having problems with it,as you can see it a microsoft codec and the only way round it is probaley to make a proper mpeg2 dvd or re-encode the audio which you may be able to do fairly easy with virtualdub.

Sorry, but this is not true mp3 is by far superior to ADPCM.
Anyway I use AAC LC SBR.

who cares it does the job for me and its video quality that counts not sound its only for uploading here the dvd captures are captured on another machine with another card a Pinnacle Microvideo DC30 plus and encoded to dvd using cinemacraft sp with menus made with TMPGEnc DVD Author.

Nobody uploads better quality videos than johnoo! I have no problem playing any of his videos on my computer. You are probably missing the correct audio codecs. You should download the k-lite codec pack, it works wonders.

I think he has no problems playing on his computer its his divx standalone player he has trouble as of course it does not have the required codec,I'll have another look at the lame codec after the YEC but its not like I'm using a odd audio codec every windows pc has it installed as default and every dvd encoding software will use it without problems.

Hi, I am now using VIRTUALDUB to change the audio codec. The audio is not present when I am playing it on my stand alone DVD divx player:) thanks again john!

Hey Johnoo...thnaks for the great vids :kiss:. I have a little problem though. I was downloading the first and first part of the second set of the Maria/Elena match simultaneously, cause I wanted to go to bed and have both completed when I woke up. Unfortunately, when I woke up, the first set download was stuck at 83% and cannot download anymore. Can you suggest why this is happening? I tried re-downloading and it tells me I have exceeded my download limit. Now i'm really stuck, cause I'm still without the first set :sobbing:

Who cares? People with limited download possibilities, people that store all the matches. Every bit saved is important. Look at the recode I made from this match: SydneyInternational9Jan_6_Henin_Hardenne_v_Hingis_ avi. Almost same quality but at less than half the size!

Encoding is done in order to get the original captured clip WAYYY smaller, which in your language would be like playing with the Size/Quality of the clip in order to get the final clip to share it :angel:

Hello MikeJones,

you need the last version of VLC in order to be able to read "H264" (or mp4) video format.

Rottweily is right this video format is one of the best quality/size encoding, available today

that may be so and I have the Mainconcept H.264 Encoder v2 but I've found the average downloader has problems with it so I will stick with xvid while people get to grips with it then I will change.

Hello Johnoo,

As far as i understand the "standard" M$ Windows Player (Media Player). And may be for a lot of uploader it's difficult to use something else than this $#!!!&3@.
What ever, you are doing soo much in uploading so many matches in a very very good quality, Sincerly i do not understand why people could even think about complaining. Every body should be thankful to all the hard work you are doing.

The fact is when you use something else than "divx + mp3" or "mpeg", some people will have trouble with codec or portability.

May be you should use the easiest way for you.

Once again, Thank You VERY Much for all the upload you are doing

well, some people should just sit with those who are encoding videos. chat with their computers during the entire encoding period, keep their computer company, measure some CPU cycles, measure some CPU temperatures, check out some HD wear and tear, and also, the nice uploading times needed to all these sites, since internet connection between can break in between and resume is not possible most of the times.

oh, and after all this hard work, you have to answer posts asking why you used this codec and not that, and why does my M$ player not play your vidz, or why can i hear no sound, ahhhh, the nice cushy job of tech support.

it's all very warped indeed.
That is true, being myself one of the videos contributors to this board, that pretty much sums the whole work that has to be done in order to share clips and matches on internet.
It´s a pretty long and tough process, and sometimes you get the feeling of no reward because very few people post a comment about the video, despite a lot of people download them and asks for them.

Exacly don´t get mad man, i just understand it´s easier for you the problem is that i don´t like 2 things of youtube:

1) Quality of the clips are not the same as the original uploaded file.
2) Downloading the clip is a pain in the a.s , because first it´s difficult to download the youtube file which then you get a FLV file and need a software to change it to .AVI. So its nice to see the match via youtube but it´s difficult to get it for your collection which i love.

Anyway i appreciate all the hard work :)

welcome to my crazy world,why the hell I'm doing this I don't know:) ,I actually double capture sharapova matches on different machines,one 768x576 for my own dvds the other machine captures 640x480 for uploading,as I capture mjpeg(avi) the capture files are very big 40gb plus,I then use virtualdub and xvid because its easier for me and I know how it works,if I did'nt capture straight to a computer I would not do it too much work is involved,I don't know poldame's setup but it must take a lot of his free time.

Personally I've spend a lot of time doing research on the best quality formats and writing the scripts to do fully automated encoding.

The reward now is that with a few clicks my pc starts encoding and few hours later I have a completely finished mkv ready to be uploaded.

you better be carfull about your videos on youtube. If you don't have copyright ownership, my account and all my videos were recently deleted. Almost 200 videos in all.

I can only see this situation getting worse,eurosport have plans to show more tournaments streamed on there website,like the USO and recent ATP tournie,and I can't see them allowing there matches to be shown on youtube especially since the google takeover.

well, it's sometimes more efficient and cheaper to have a group of people to contribute to a web server. you pay more, but you get control, and guaranteed bandwidth. but well, it all costs money. else i actually think torrents are a very nice and efficient way, but as usual, you need people to actually jump on the torrent wagon

the only way torrents would work is if it was a private tracker with a share ratio ,i.e you drop below a certain level and you can't download only upload, because at the likes of mininova people don't stay around to seed,people won't pay for a web server and who's going to pay anyway? certainly not the uploaders,the vswfan ftp was good but that closed suddenly with a loss of all the videos.
