so do you think it should be only winner and RU pick?

I am not with it.

yeah, but seems that I'm the only one who thinks that way

Well,it is adding a dimension to the game and people like it and gaining points,I am liking it too.

Didnt know you were against it.

I always use main draw, Q Draw and results and stuff posted in the tourney threads for my predictions. So I would like that to stay like it is.

So just one new thread in the satellites section for the challengerpredictions? In which we can/may post results and draws too?

All results thread will stay.

Weekly I will open a thread at Satellites to post our picks "for bigger ITF events only" then will keep the first post with draws & results of those big ITF events of the week.

All will be clear with the test picks next week.

Thanks for willing to put some extra work in it! :)

It's just that to predict winner and runner-up you don't have to check players results. But when it comes to predicting DB's most of the time (when there are no obvious bagel girls) you're forced to checking results of many players (espacially in qualies) which is quite boring and not fun. But most people don't do that and end up copying each other's picks and that's also not fun.

You are not FORCED to do anything! :p I NEVER check results of players for my picks, and I do OK still - and no, I don't copy other people's picks either!

Well it is just about predicting really,no more.

You can check the profile the players and guess the picks or can copy it too,way to get points, one way or the other

I actually always check results and I enjoy doing that. But often there are obvious choices, so you wind up with the same picks, even if you check.

Well, it seems I'm lucky and there are still some quallie matches to be played. But if I had known it was gonna be in there I'd have looked earlier. I probably saw it on the weekend, and thought it was a PYW thread or something - coz there are always like 5 of those in there. :p

You can still vote before the R1 results despite the fact polls are closed.

Actually I am asking to be close bit earlier than predicted time of R1 results to avoid the late votes on poll.

I still think it's strange you can score more points with a wrong pick than with a right one.
Like this week, 5 people choose Rebeca Bou to win Seville, and she did. So all of them receive 10/5 = 2 points.
That's nice and all, but then Equus who had her as RU (so wrong!) gets 5?

I love the fact that you can end up winning more points by an original pick, but considering this example it's kinda weird.

Besides that, scores are :yeah:

But I have another question; do you loose your points again after a year, or how do the rankings actually work? Or will we all be chasing Equus forever? :)

Well indeed it is weird at first place but I like it and it is adding extra dimension to the game,it is about picking right at the right time instead of picking correct all the time ;)

With 1 other I picked Sulpizio as runner up who was the champion and I become 0,5 points ????

With 4 others I picked Ruckert as runner up who was the champion and I become 2,5 points.
With 1 other I picked Sulpizio as runner up who was the champion and I become 0,5 points ????

The rules are:
1.) You can earn a maximum of 10 points for choosing the winner and the right runner up.Predicting the right winner/right runner up gives you a max of 10points . If two people predict the right runner up you get 5 points (10/2) and so on. Minimum is 1 point.

2.) If your predicted winner is eventually the runner-up you get half the points the right winners get (Example: Xian chooses Jelena Dokic as the winner. Eventual winner is Alex Stevenson and 5 people chose right, which makes 2,5 points for each of them, Xian gets 2,5/2 = 1,25, Minimum is 0,5 points.Same counts for predicted runner up is the eventual winner

have a look at to first post.

Simply if your winner pick finish the event RU or RU pick finish the event as a winner, you will get half of the winner/RU points.

With 4 others I picked Ruckert as runner up who was the champion and I become 2,5 points.
With 1 other I picked Sulpizio as runner up who was the champion and I become 0,5 points ????

There were 2 people who had the right runner up in Valencia (Romana Janshen). They both get 5 points (10 points maximum divided by 2). Those picking the champion as runner-up (in this case Katie Ruckert) get half the points the people who picked the right runner-up, in this case 2.5 points.

In Augusta the same system is used. Nobody picked the right runner up (Paola Sprovieri) there, so those picking the champion as runner-up (Valentina Sulpizio) get half of the minimal score of 1, therefore the score is 0.5 points.

Exactly.

Thanx for the further explain Eddy.

The way I understand your explanation I still wonder why I only get 0,5 points for Sulpizio.

Well because nobody picked Sprovieri, eventual runner up.

So you actually have to get 0 divided by 2 = 0 (because nobody picked eventual runner up Sprovieri) but we are giving 0.5 eventually since you picked her in final and 0 point is too dump to give for it.

congrats auntie! I've been struggling for weeks to get in the top 40... I'll make that my goal of the year as well, who knows where I might end up then:lol:

I'm sure you can achieve your dreams! But are you ready to do what it takes? Because you will need 6 hours of practice every day alongside an expensive, elite coach, not to mention a top fitness trainer to help you avoid injury.

hmm gonna be hard... I lost my sponsor since I still hadn't made the top 40, and so I had to let my personal trainer go... But then again; that gives me 2 hours of extra practice a day, so who knows... I might make it to the top 40 at some point?

I hope this 10K Predict the Winner game will permanently stay separate from the game for the rest of the challengers. It's only since I started playing this game that I've really started following 10Ks every week; before, I only paid weekly attention to 25Ks and up, with only a rare peek at 10K results. But thanks to this game, I have really come to love these 10Ks with their crazy results. :hearts: It really is a different world, and I think it's great that it has its own game -- the only game I have ever played on wtaworld. Thanks, tobi and Xian! :wavey:

Bolivar-Espinosa got the DB win in 1st round.

ITF put quali draw to their website with already played 1st round matches in time,so all of our picks were for 2nd round quali matches.

Nope 9 point is correct.

Because I got a typing error on Buenos Aires DB points and put you as DB winner there instead there isnt correct DB pick in the tournement.

so 5 + 2 +2 = 9 is correct.

I didn't know we were moving with the same strategy.Actually,i vote late because i know you're gonna copy at least one of my picks and i'm trying to block your copycatness which is a very classy thing. :p But it's true that i sometimes take high risks with voting the not-voted player. Nice observation. :yeah: I'm not a popular poster, you should at least let me be the star in here. :awww:
