Neyssa Etienne is a young player (age 20) from Haiti, and it seems she has not played at all this year. Has anyone heard anything at all about her?

I've been wondering the same thing? Maybe she ran out of money, or decided to go to college.

Here's an article from a little while back on the official USF (University of South Florida) athletics site:

USF Women’s Tennis Signs National Standout Neyssa Etienne

TAMPA, Fla. (November 20, 2003)-USF women’s tennis head coach Gigi Fernandez is thrilled to announce the singing of Neyssa Etienne, from Haiti, to National Letter of Intent. Neyssa will start at the University in January of 2004. Neyssa has achieved a WTA tour world ranking of 398. She has wins over No. 1 player in the country Georgia’s Agata Cioroch and Stanford freshman Theresa Logar.

“I am beyond excited that Neyssa has agreed to join the women’s tennis team in January,” commented USF head coach Gigi Fernandez.

“She brings the women’s tennis program to the national level. I look for Neyssa to have an immediate impact in the NCAA’s, to help us win a C-USA title, and a National Championship bid. I look forward to helping her develop her tennis skills in the years to come.”

Well congratulations to Neyssa - From what I've searched, she hasn't played any matches yet for the team in competition, but hope she enjoys the NCAA experience and hopefully she will eventually go back and give the circuit another chance - She is a talented player and her results certainly indicated that she could have been quite a bit higher ranked had she played more events!
