El arranque oficial del Torneo Internacional de Tenis Femenil Challenger 2004, que estaba programado para ayer en la modalidad de singles, se pospuso finalmente para este miércoles, a causa del mal tiempo que azota este puerto.

Al igual que como ha ocurrido en ediciones pasadas, el Dios Tláloc hizo su aparición y obligó al Comité Organizador a posponer el inicio de las actividades, del evento que reparte una bolsa en efectivo de 25 mil dólares y puntos para el ranking mundial de la WTA.

Y es que después del aguacero que cayó durante la madrugada y mañana de ayer, las canchas del Club Britania quedaron en malas condiciones, por lo que no se pudieron llevar a cabo los primeros encuentros del certamen, ya que se ponía en riesgo la integridad física de las jugadoras, quienes de cualquier forma se presentaron al compromiso.

De esta forma la primera jornada se corre para hoy, así como la inauguración del torneo, que tendrá lugar por la noche con el duelo estelar entre Karen Paterson de Gran Bretaña y Carla Tiene (Brasil).

Así también entrarán en acción las mexicanas.

Paul, i´m not watching the event, but i´m keeping in touch with Olga de La Fuente. She´s supervisor of tournament. She gives me all informations. There´s a website but isn´t updated yet.
My english is not so good, but the article says cause the rain the courts was in bad conditions and all games will be playing today...(My time here,Fortaleza, Brazil is the same of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico). The article also says that the open´s cerimony will be at night and after it, it will happen game of Karen Paterson vs Carla Tiene...

I hope Jess can come out focused tomorrow and win in straights...this really sucks for her.

Jess only has four more tournaments for the year and she doesnt turn 17 till October I think she really needs to win here to secure a WC at the Open.

She will get a WC to the US Open.

It's looking more and more like Kirkland is the real deal, American tennis needs her to keep doing well.
