according to the ranking history thread: hightest belgian rank: K&J fan : 12th (there are off course a lot of players without a specified country, so it is possible one of them was in the top 10 once).

A victory would almost certainly mean a top 10 place: danielrosario has allmost 200 points to defend and Pintaled is only 24 points ahead...

Welcome in the Belgian PAW Team, the most succesfull team so far this year! :bounce: :bounce:

OMG, a speech, oh well, let's try (only cuz you guys asked it so nice ;) )

Wow, I'm really shocked actually. In only, I don't know 10 weeks or something, on the PAW tour I have already two victories wich include the Australian Open. This victory at Acapulco is more satisfying for me, cuz this is a tournament I won with strategy (in contrast to my AO victory where I was just very lucky).
But off course, I couldn't do this alone. I had my coach, my personal "kiné" and last but not least all the Belgians behind me. I really appriciate all the support the Belgians are giving to eachother. Without we wouldn't have already 4 victories this year. I hope the momentum keeps on going and many more successes and joys. So thanks to you all and who knows, maybe a 5th title at Indian Wells.

Looks like we will have a selection-problem in the FED-cup. We allready have 6 commitments. K&J fan will probably be selected captain, and will have to choose the team, but to make the job a bit easier for him (or is it her?) I thought we could all state here who we think should be in the team...

First I have to say I got a bit lucky :angel: the final wasn't played, otherwise I could have been caught up by WTA-handicapper for a shared victory. So I have to congratulate him for the great come-back he was making in this tourney, being around 60th place on wednesdaynight :yeah:

But yes, my second victory, after the very special one in my hometown Antwerp earlier this year :) But this one might even be more special and very sweet for my country Belgium. Being the 5th victory yet for our nation this year, not another country coming even close :devil: ... but very nice is to take this win on German soil, after being beaten by die Mannschaft in the Fed-Cup two weeks ago, showing our eastern neighbours Belgium is still very hot in PAW :D

It's nice to see this tourney takes me to a career high of #4 in the rankings, and to #2 in the race, behind compatriot Geofrey :) ... you see, Belgium is very hot in PAW, or did I mention this already :lol:

Same feeling here. I prefer the one-week tournaments. Seems like even more luck is involved in the slams. But it gives some more room to follow the slam itself :lol:

PAWBelgium in 2004: summary

Well, truth be told, it has been a very good year for Belgium. We were able to win some tournaments, including some Grand Slams; in almost every tournament there was a Belgian in the top 20; 8 of us ended the year in the top 100; including 3 in the top 16 (Masters). Fed Cup on the other hand was a letdown...

2004: A Belgian Story

2004 kicked off with 4 Belgians on the PAW tour. Three of them down under at Gold Coast, the other one as a Wild Card at Auckland, New Zealand. And it was a perfect kick off: at Auckland Come-on-Kim finished equal 16th, but at the real succes came at Gold Coast where zorgzamesnip captured the title with K&J fan (4th) and Geoffry (29th) in his trail. A week later, kimclijsters4ever joined the Belgian 2004 squad at Sydney, where he finished 9th. The day after Sydney's final, the Australian Open began. And the first Grand Slam of the year, also delivered the first Belgian Grand Slam winner: Geoffry overcame all competition and handed Belgium its second tournament win of 2004.
But the year was far from over after the AO. The PAW tour moved slowly from Australia to Europe, with ofcourse a stop at the prestigous Tier-I tourney in Tokyo. There William Hunt and konijntje_00 came onto the tennis scene and finished respectively 45th and 57th.
At Paris, the next week, no Belgian was able to finish in the top 20, altho Come-on-Kim was very close with a 21th place. But no worries were needed, cuz where there were none in Paris, there were atleast 5 at Antwerp. Kimclijsters4ever (19th), zorgzamensnip (16th), Geoffry (10th) and Come-on-Kim (4th) were all witness of how K&J fan earned his first career title at his hometown.
And the success continued, at Dubai and Bogota finished Come-on-Kim and Geoffry at a deserving 3rd place. Also William Hunt notched his first top 10 place at the South American tournament. And South America kept bringing good luck, Geoffry won his 2nd title at Acapulco only 7 days after Bogota.
At the beginnig of March was the second and third important tournament of the year: Indian Wells and Miami. K&Jfan proved to be worthy of his seeding and finished 5th at IW, with Come-on-Kim behind him. At Miami however, the tables were turned: C-o-K ended up as first Belgian, leaving the likes of William Hunt, konijntje_00 and newcomer Lore behind him. Belgian lizzard had the 'honor' of finishing last.
And then the clay season began... At Amelia Island the Belgians were far from succesfull. That same week in Italy, William Hunt and Lizzard finished respectively 12th and again... last at Palermo. But the lack of top10 places was quickly solved at tier I Charleston: Lore impressed with a 5th place and K&J fan confirmed once again with a solid 9th place.
Once in Europe, Lore kept going on her succesfull streak. At Poland's capital Warsaw, she took a 4th place, being the only Belgian in the top20, maybe that the disgraceful Fed Cup loss to Germany (where Lore didn't compete) was a reason for the letdown from the other Belgians.
But once again, Belgium crawled back up and showed it to the world when K&Jfan took the title at Berlin, and reached a career high number 4 at that time.
After Rome, with no honourable Belgian results, Roland Garros came along. Lore and K&J fan were THE Belgian clay performers, but it was only Lore who could prove it at RG. She finished 12th and became the first Belgian at the 2nd GS. Second was Come-on-Kim at 20. K&J fan finished dissapointedly last.

I won the Australian Open last year and kimclijsters4ever took home the Wimbledon title also last year :)

i started well with azarenka , but then it was totally nothings , i was wrong at both semi's in auckland , lost the kirilenko vs zvonareva match, dokic vs schruff...

On MTF it's going great , it's 100 % sure that im 1st or 2nd in Doha :)
